The Organizing Committee – which includes associations, committees, local tourist offices, confederations, trade unions, political forces and civil lists of diverse orientation, as well as private citizens – aims at encouraging and promoting all initiatives useful to establish an Archaeological Park of Fiumicino, Ostia and the Roman Coast. This park, we believe, not only would fill a gap already felt by generations of archaeologists, technical experts and administrators, but could also be the most healthy and sustainable response to the lack of jobs caused by the crisis of the greatest “Company” of the Lazio Region: the Leonardo Da Vinci Airport .

We want these archeological treasures, which belong to the whole world, to be preserved in the best way possible.

We want to create new jobs protecting our cultural and natural heritage.
One of the first initiatives of the Committee is a petition aimed at asking to the President of the Lazio Region:
1 ) to consider the accessibility and improvement of the vast archaeological area, which consists of the imperial Ports of Claudius and Trajan, the Necropolis of Portus and the area of Ostia Antica, as one of the strategic objectives to be included in the future Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020 (European Regional Development Funds)
2 ) to immediately call to a meeting the Municipalities of Fiumicino and Rome, the Special government department responsible for the archeological resources of the city of Rome (Soprintendenza Speciale per i Beni Archeologici di Roma), the private owners of the Harbor of Trajan and all the relevant authorities, in order to draw up a business plan to make those resources accessible and to create new jobs.
The Lazio Region is discussing the new European Programmes 2014-2020 and is THE body able to coordinate the Municipalities of Fiumicino and Rome, the Soprintendenza and the private owners.

Please sign this petition: our cultural heritage can be our future!
